Calculation methods
The formulas, worked examples, assumptions and limits behind every tool.
Wax & fragrance ↗
Wax = combined weight ÷ (1 + load ÷ 100). Fragrance = combined weight − wax.
Example: 216 g combined weight at 8% of wax = 200 g wax + 16 g fragrance. The fragrance is 7.407% of the combined weight.
Enter a weight, not the jar’s fluid-ounce volume. The percentage is your input, not a recommended or certified fragrance limit. Follow the wax and fragrance supplier limits and test the finished product.
Batch planner ↗
Mix weight = fill per candle × count × (1 + extra ÷ 100). Split that weight using the wax-based fragrance load.
Example: 12 × 216 g with 5% extra = 2,721.6 g of mixture: 2,520 g wax and 201.6 g fragrance at 8%.
The allowance increases both materials proportionally; it does not increase the target fill per candle. It is a planning allowance, not an extra fragrance percentage.
Fragrance blend ↗
Component weight = total fragrance weight × component percentage ÷ 100.
Example: 100 g at 50 / 30 / 20 / 0% gives 50 g of A, 30 g of B and 20 g of C.
This only divides fragrance weights. It does not calculate a safe combined fragrance limit or predict scent, burn behavior, temperatures or wick size.
Candle cost ↗
Unit cost = total batch cost ÷ saleable candles. Target price = unit cost ÷ (1 − margin ÷ 100).
Example: 2520 g wax at 8/kg + 201.6 g oil at 35/kg + 12 × 1.70 containers, wicks and packaging + 6 other costs = 53.616. Per candle: 4.468; at 50% gross margin: 8.936.
All prices must use the same selected currency. Enter labor, energy and other costs in batch overhead if needed. Taxes, platform fees and shipping are excluded unless you include them yourself. Margin is not markup.
Units and numerical limits
Conversions use 1 inch = 2.54 cm, 1 mile = 1.609344 km, and 1 avoirdupois ounce = 28.349523125 g. Empty, non-finite, out-of-range and unsupported values are rejected. Displayed values are rounded; calculations retain precision. Input-specific limits are reported alongside the field when exceeded.
